Eating Healthy During Pregnancy no comments
Starting off your with a healthy well
balanced diet is the best thing you do for yourself
and your baby. This way, you’ll only need to make
a few adjustments during your pregnancy.
Your first trimester
If you find it tough to maintain a balanced diet
during your first trimester, you can rest assured
that your not alone. Due to queasiness, some
women will eat all of the time and gain a lot of
weight in the process. Other women have trouble
getting food down and subsequently lose weight.
Preventing malnutrition and dehydration are your
most important factors during first trimester.
Calories
When you are pregnant, you need to consume around
300 calories more than usual every day. The best
way to go about doing this is listening to your
body when you are hungry. You should try to eat
as many foods as possible from the bottom of the
food pyramid.
If you gain weight too slow, try eating small
meals and slightly increase the fat in your diet.
You should always eat when you are hungry, as you
are now eating for 2 instead of one.
Calcium
By the second trimester, you’ll need around 1,500
milligrams of calcium each day for your bones and
your baby’, which is more than a quart of milk.
Calcium is something that’s missing from many
diets. Along with milk, other great sources for
calcium include dairy products, calcium fortified
juices, and even calcium tablets.
Fiber
Fiber can help to prevent constipation, which is
a common pregnancy problem. You can find fiber in
whole grains, fruits, and even vegetables. Fiber
supplements such as Metamucil and Citrucel are
safe to take during pregnancy.
Protein
Unless you happen to be a strict vegetarian, your
protein intake is not normally a problem for women
who eat a healthy diet.
Iron
A lot of women will start their pregnancy off with
a bit of iron deficiency. Good sources of iron
include dark leafy green vegetables and meats. Iron
supplements should be avoided, as they can cause
internal symptoms such as cramping, constipation,
or diarrhea.
Vitamins
Seeing as how you get a majority of the vitamins you
need in your diet, you may want to discuss prenatal
vitamins with your doctor. Folate is one of the most
important, and if you are getting enough of it, you
may be able to avoid vitamins all together – just ask
your doctor to make sure.

Eating For A Healthy Life no comments
Few people have given any thought to what their nutritional needs are or how important nutrition is to their overall health. They dont know that, for example, if the human brain doesnt get enough protein, it wont develop correctly, or that if a female body doesnt get enough of certain nutritional substances like flax oil, the metabolism will be impaired, and the body will gain weight.
This information highlights and emphasizes the critical importance of determining what our needs are and meeting our nutritional needs through good eating habits.
Experts in the media often remind us to take our vitamins and to eat fortified cereals and to drink out milk, but what we really need is information about how our eating habits and the foods we eat contribute to nutrition on a daily basis. We must learn how to provide our bodies with everything they need food, vitamins, minerals to maintain optimal health.
In order to determine our basic nutritional needs, we need to educate ourselves about what, exactly, our individual needs are. Then we can use that knowledge and apply it to buying, preparing, and eating appropriate foods. We need to recognize that our nutritional requirements change as we age; the nutritional needs of a teenager are different from those of a senior citizen.
In many cases, what we need in terms of vitamins and minerals is much more critical than our need for calories. If it is necessary, we can take vitamin and mineral supplements, which are manufactured by nutrition firms, to help us fill the gap that may exist if we dont get enough of these substances in our daily diet.
Nutrition is an extremely complicated subject because there are so many variables to consider. As mentioned before, it is a fact that our bodies change as we age, and we will need to adapt our eating habits and nutritional foods accordingly. Additionally, the nutritional needs of people with illnesses are different from those of healthy individuals. Few doctors recognize this fact, however, and may provide the same nutrition advice to health pregnant women as to an ailing cancer patient.
To remain healthy and to sustain the optimal health and functioning of our bodies, we must pay close attention to our unique nutritional needs. And we must pursue more knowledge concerning how nutrition, physical exercise, and mental and emotional factors influence our overall health status.

Dynamic Pattern Hair Loss Discovery. Treatment and Recovery through Scalp Hygiene Healthy Scalps Grow Healthy Hair
Hair loss affects approximately 50 million men and women in the United States, but few people understand how and why they are losing their hair. Although genetic dispositions contribute, it’s primarily the lack of epidermal health that suppresses normal hair and skin production. Through out Karen’s 25 year career, clients complained of itchy scalp conditions and pattern hair loss. There had to be natural, non-invasive treatment alternatives to hydro cortisone creams, hair grafts and hair transplant surgery. Hair loss products, weaves and supplements have shown little or no results. She was determined to find a solution. Karen had an extraordinary epiphany. Why no one had considered the obvious reason of poor scalp health as the underlying cause is anyones guess. She discovered pattern hair loss involved more than just heredity. Scalp & Skin Works has revealed the crucial step and logical solution for pattern hair loss and undesirable scalp conditions. The problem. Pattern hair loss is multifaceted and more complicated than she, and obviously everyone else realized. The abundance and over production of excess skin layers, perspiration and impurities like sticky sebum clogs, and follicle parasites all contribute to hair loss. The solution. Recovery begins, by detoxifying the scalp, restoring proper hygiene and fostering healthy environments conducive for normal scalp and skin growth. Clients are able to actually see their scalp condition, and watch the removal of impurities with the assistance of a cosmetic microscope and monitor as the clinician works. It’s an interactive process. Most are amazed and fascinated at what they see, eyes glues to the screen. Others get grossed out and just don’t look. Customers are very pleased with their results. I had given up. I had tried other hair loss treatments and did not want to do transplant surgery. Then System Scalp & Skin showed me that I could re-grow my own hair through their scalp hygiene process. It wasnt long and I could actually see new hair growing in. My hair is now getting thicker and my halo is shrinking. System Scalp & Skin works! Kevin Buchan, Oil Industry Lobbyist, Cameron Park CA.
Dieting Try these Healthy Foods no comments
Include these healthy foods in your diet. No matter how much weight you are working out to loose or gain, these healthy foods will enhance any diet. Do not mind about the added calories, they are so minimal. To think of it, most food contains calories. The benefits you get from these foods are great.
Let us drink to your health
Water for the body is good. Water with flavoring? As Rabbis usually says, we could look at that in different ways. Funny sometimes are Rabbis but actually there is too much wisdom in that. You see, you will never go wrong with water. No one does. Any water that is not needed by the body gets out of the body. The more is flushed out, the cleaner our system gets, and the healthier we become. What should be bothering is what we mix with the water.
Fruit juices? Okay but make it natural. Juices squeezed out of fresh fruits do wonders for the body. It has some calories but the benefits far outweigh whatever the added calories. The sugar in fresh fruits unlike processed sugar is good. The calories derived from it give constant, steady burning energy unlike table sugar that gives sudden energy boosts and the feeling of tiredness afterwards. Because of the natural sugars, the feeling of being full lasts and so we feel hungry less. If the diet leans on strict adherence, do not buy bottled juices or powders. There are so many other additives in it that may upset your dieting program. This is the time where you should read the label. Read the fine print too. You may be getting more of the additives and less of the fruit juice. Most fruit juice preparations are so watered down, perked up with additives, highly sugared and not worth much in the healthy foods department.
Coffee Yes. Coffee are very rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants benefit the body in many ways. One of these is the slowing down of the aging process. Now, eating food that are rich in antioxidants may not shave off years to our looks but it makes our body function better. But limit that to a few cups because of the caffeine.
Then We Feast
Eat avocado and no, do steer off it because of the fat. The fat in avocado is good and considered in nutrition circles as “healthy Fat”. Avocado is one of the richest in fiber especially those that are fully ripe. Actually the more mature it gets the better the fiber. It is one of those rare food that are very filling without calories. Just like coffee avocados are very rich in antioxidants less the caffeine. It is also an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Avocados could be a complete meal when mixed with milk. It also blends very well with many different kinds of food like salads, guacamole, tortilla etc. This is not a boring health food.
If avocado tops in fiber, walnuts top in Omega 3. Good as salad and pastry toppings, it is also a good portable snack. Hemp oil is almost similar in benefits.
Likewise, apples, potatoes, oats, Brazil nuts, and fishes of the fresh water/fatty variety are healthy foods that you will never go wrong even when you eat plenty.
Diabetes: Eating Healthy, Eating Well! no comments
Types Of Diabetes
There are two types of diabetes, and they really are two quite different diseases. In type 1, or insulin-dependent diabetes, insulin injections are needed. But in type 2, or non-insulin-dependent diabetes, most people can keep their condition under control with just diet and medication. This type of diabetes is actually much more common than the insulin-dependent type.
How do I find out which type of diabetes I have?
Your doctor will tell you what type of diabetes you have and what you need to do. You can also ask your doctor to refer you to a Diabetes Education program. There, trained health professionals can teach you about diabetes and insulin.
What Is Insulin?
Insulin is classified according to how long it works in the body. There are five different types of insulin, ranging from short to long acting. Some insulins are clear in appearance, while others are cloudy.
Types of insulin
The five types of insulin include:
1. Rapid onset-fast acting insulin
2. Short acting insulin
3. Intermediate acting insulin
4. Mixed insulin
5. Long acting insulin.
Diabetes And Healthy Eating
Healthy eating, combined with regular physical activity and weight control, is important to manage diabetes.
People with diabetes should eat mainly high fibre carbohydrate foods such as wholegrain breads and cereals and vegetables and fruit. They should also reduce their intake of fat, especially saturated fat. Limiting the serving size of your meals is often required to maintain a healthy body weight. Its also a good idea to see a dietitian who can help develop a healthy eating plan.
Healthy eating helps a person with diabetes to:
1. Maintain general good health
2. Control blood glucose levels
3. Achieve normal blood lipid (fat) levels
4. Maintain a healthy blood pressure
5. Maintain a healthy body weight
6. Prevent the complications of diabetes.
No Special Diets Required
Healthy eating for people with diabetes is no different than for everyone else. People with diabetes do not need to prepare separate meals or buy special foods, so relax and enjoy healthy eating with the rest of your family.
