Being afflicted by hemorrhoids is no laughing matter. The pain and itching associated with the condition can be embarrassing as well as distracting. There are a variety of solutions to help you overcome hemorrhoids and we’ll discuss some of your options here.

Exactly what are hemorrhoids? In short, hemorrhoids refers to a condition in which the veins around the lower rectum or anus are swollen and inflamed. Hemorrhoids can be found internally within the anus or externally around the anus.

The condition is often worsened as sufferers attempt to make a bowel movement. Other causes include: diarrhea, anal intercourse, pregnancy, constipation, and aging.

Signs of hemorrhoids are observed through blood on toilet tissue, as well as blood found in and around the toilet bowl. A lump or painful swelling around the anus can be a physical sign as well as extreme itching in the same area.

There are two methods you can try to actively reduce or eliminate the condition:

1. Apply a hemorroidal cream or suppository to the area affected.

2. Warm tub baths, several times a day, in plain water.

To prevent future attacks you can take the following steps:

1. If constipation is a problem for you, increase your fiber intake to bring on smoother bowel movements.

2. Cut back on caffiene as coffee and similar products may exacerbate the problem.

3. Exercise regularly.

In severe cases you may require a physician’s intervention. Your doctor may suggest that affected tissue be burned or the hemmorhoid removed altogether. Other options include rubber band ligation or the injection of a chemical solution to alleviate the condition.

Some cases of hemorrhoids simply go away on their own. In all cases you can control and even eliminate the condition by following the steps outlined for you.

It is not very uncommon to see withdrawn and shy kids in schools. These kids are aloof and somewhat indifferent to other children. Most likely, these kids seem unhappy because they are being bullied at school.

Being bullied can be a total nightmare for any child. Although bullying can also be experienced by adults, this kind of social act frequently happens among kids or adolescents.

Define bullying

Bullying is different from an innocent teasing of a classmate, friend, or a sibling. Mere teasing is not harmful when done in a humorous or in an unintentional way. However, when teasing becomes extreme to the point that it is hurtful and turns into a habit on the part of the teaser, this act is then considered bullying.

Generally, bullying is the purposeful or intentional act of an individual to verbally, physically, or psychologically torment another person. This act may be in the form of threatening, mocking, hitting, name-calling, and even soliciting money from the poor victim.

Reasons why kids bully

There are a number of reasons why kids bully their classmates or siblings. One of the major reasons for bullying others is the desire to feel superior among peers. School bullies often want to show others that they are important or in control of their clique. Usually, the victims of bullying are kids who do not have popular friends as well as those who appear timid or emotionally weak.

Another typical reason why some kids bully other children at school is that they want to let others feel how is it like to be bullied or ridiculed. Studies show that bullies are oftentimes victims of bullying as well. Hence, they pick on others as means of getting even.

Dealing with the school bullies

Since bullying is inevitable to school environment, kids should know the ways or strategies in dealing with mean school bullies. Below are some of the important things that kids should know in handling or approaching bullying situations:

1. Tell your parents

Telling adults about the situation will most likely stop the bullying. Once parents know about it, they can talk to the school principal or the teacher to arrange a meeting with the kid bullys parents.

2. Literally avoid or ignore the bully

Do not go to places where the school bully typically hangs around. It is always best not to be alone while at school. Be with close friends or classmates. Some bullies prefer to attack when their victims are alone. Thus, make sure to use the buddy system.

3. Simply walk away

Be strong and courageous enough to say no to the attacks and demands of a school bully. When a bully says hurtful remarks, act like you dont hear anything and just walk away. At some instances, the bullying eventually stops when the attacks are ignored by the bullys target.

4. Be open about it

Do not be afraid to talk about the bullying situation with someone you can trust other than your parents. These people may be the guidance counselor, a therapist, or your best friend. Remember that bullying can result to a number of grave side effects, thus, affecting the mental health of a child.

Help Support Your Local Red Cross Organization   no comments

Red Cross is a non-profit organization that steps in to help those in need during and after some type of crisis situation. However, they also work hard to provide individuals with information for them to prepare themselves for a crisis situation. Educating the public about storing emergency survival kits is an important part of their work. It isnt always possible for emergency assistance to respond immediately.

The Red Cross is continually in need of funding and supplies to keep their operations going. They often need assistance to replenish the items they give out to people during their time of need. You can make a cash donation to your local Red Cross organization that is tax deductible. It can be any amount you are able to assist them with based on your own budget. You can also donate supplies they may need including clothing, toys, radios, flashlights, phone cards, and vehicles.

Household goods and items are often needed at your local Red Cross as well. Furniture including items for babys, tables and chairs, and beds are all often asked for by those in need. Anything that falls into this category that is in good condition can be donated and is also usable as an income tax write off.

You can volunteer your time to your local Red Cross as well. More than 95% of their help is on a volunteer basis. You wont be under any obligation to give any specific amount of time. They often have various activities they need assistance with including food and clothing drives. More volunteers are needed during crisis situations but there are always plenty of ongoing activities to help with on a regular basis if you are available.

Donating blood is a great way to help your local Red Cross. They generally have blood drives on certain days of the month so contact them to find out the schedule. Blood is often in need during a crisis sitatuion and the Red Cross works hard to keep a good supply of it rather than just collecting it at the time of desperate need.

During natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, the local Red Cross organizations were helpful in getting families reunited with each other. Not knowing where their loved ones were was a huge burden to many families. Having a centralized system where people can register to be found or to find others is very important.

Being a local advocate for the Red Cross is important because people are more willing to donate their time, money, and goods to an organization if they are aware of what services they provide. You can also advocate for those in need to contact the Red Cross to see if they can assist them with some of their basic needs.

Another great way to help your local Red Cross organization is to pay attention to those that may be frauding the system. During times of need there will be scammers that try to get a piece of the assistance being offered. This takes away valuable resources from those that really need it to be available to them. Report any suspicions to your local Red Cross or to local law enforcement agencies.
